Three CRPF men killed in militant attack

Srinagar: Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and as many injured in a militant attack in north Kashmir’s Sopore town on Saturday, officials said.
The militants fired at a check post that was jointly being manned by troops of CRPF’s 179th battalion and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, they said.
This is the third attack against the paramilitary force in the Kashmir valley within a week.
The militants attacked the joint party of CRPF’s 179 battalion and Police at Noorbagh near Ahad Bab’s crossing.
“Five paramilitary troopers sustained injuries in the attack,” officials said.
The injured were evacuated to nearby SDH hospital were two CRPF men were declared brought dead on the arrival and another succumbed later, they added.
Those killed in the attack have been identified as Head Constable Chander B Bakhre, Head Constable Rajeev Sharma and Constable Parmar Satpal. The two injured troopers Head Constable Biswajeet Ghosh and Constable Javid Ahmad (driver) were later airlifted to army’s 92 base hospital at Badamibagh Srinagar for specialized treatment.
Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, Dilbagh Singh (IPS) said that three CRPF personnel were killed and two others including the driver injured in the militant attack.
The DGP said that militants attacked the CRPF vehicle on duty at Sopore town. Soon after the incident, government forces launched searches in the area to nab the assailants. (with inputs from PTI,GNS)
