Man dies at CD hospital, authorities await for COVID test findings

Srinagar: A suspect for Covid-19 died in a Srinagar hospital today. Doctors said that the sample of the body has been taken to ascertain whether the deceased is COVID-19 free or not.
Sources said that a man from North Kashmir’s Baramulla district was admitted at CD Hospital a couple of days ago and today he passed away in the hospital. The man was very sick but his test conducted for COVID-19 was found negative.
“He was really very sick but when we tested him for Covid-19, it turned out to be negative. Before, reconfirmation test, he died today. Now, his body is lying in the hospital and we have taken his samples and the test report is awaited,” renowned Pulmonologist and HoD, Chest Disease Hospital Dr Naveed Nazir, said.
He said body will be handed over to family only after they receive the report.
“If his report turns out to be positive, he will be buried as per protocol laid for Covid-19 patients,” Dr Nazir added.
Pertinently, a couple of days ago, an elderly man from Pattan town died at SMHS Hospital. Authorities handed over the body to family only after performing a Covid-19 test that was found negative. (KNT)
