Amid lockdown market checking conducted in Sopore

Sopore: After reports of black marketing and profiteering, police along with executive magistrate, Legal Metrology, municipal council and other concerned departments of Sopore conducted market checking at various areas in the town.
During market checking, erring shopkeepers and vendors especially fruit and vegetable vendors were fined on spot by the executive magistrate and other concerned departments. Rupees 2000 was collected as fine from erring vendors, a police spokesman said.
The aim of the market checking was to curb black marketing and profiteering of essential commodities during this covid-19 pandemic, said executive magistrate.
He said that taking advantage of the ongoing lockdown various grocery shopkeepers and vendors in Sopore sold items on exorbitant prices.
