Centre afraid of Mehbooba’s political stature: Touseef Shah
Says delaying her release will complicate matters further
Srinagar: PDP leader Touseef Shah on Thursday condemned the central government’s move to keep PDP Party president Ms. Mehbooba mufti under continued PSA detention and only shifting her from a government accommodation turned sub Jail to her own residence.
The central government by prolonging the detention of our party president Ms. Mehbooba Mufti is agreeing to the fact that, she is the strongest leader from J&K. The central government is afraid of her reach and people friendly policies for both the regions J&K, Touseef Shah, said.
The political canvas of Jammu & Kashmir cannot be drawn while keeping the Iron Lady of Kashmir Ms. Mehbooba Mufti under prolonged detention, he added.
Shah demanded early release of party president Ms. Mehbooba Mufti so that the democratic political process is reinstated in Jammu & Kashmir.
Shah said that late Mufti Mohammad Syed respected the people’s verdict from both Jammu as well Kashmir, who choose PDP as a lead party from Kashmir Valley and BJP from Jammu region, and entered into an alliance with BJP to form a government.
Respecting the peoples verdict he agreed to form the alliance for the benefit of people from both the regions including ladakh. But BJP reneged on its promises and did not implement the agenda of alliance.
Touseef Shah also condemned the statement of IGP Kashmir for threatening the people of valley by putting them in jails in case they speak against the recently announced domicile laws for Jammu and Kashmir.
The police officer it seems has forgotten that we are living in a democracy and his open threat can be taken to the court of law.
Shah further said that the formation of new political parties will yield nothing but will result in further alienation of people of both Jammu & Kashmir regions.
The move will end up creating more chaos and confusion among the people and will further delay the resolution of Kashmir problem.
The tall claims made by Hon’ble Home Minister of India regarding the peace prevailing in the valley after the abrogation of Article 370 on 5th August, 2019 is proving otherwise.
Peace has been ensured by resorting to coercion and use of brute force and this will only bring timely relief for those who govern Jammu and Kashmir. In the long run such policies will further aggravate the Kashmir problem and prolong its resolution further, Touseef Shah added.
