Pulwama youth goes missing, family appeals for return

Pulwama: It has been three weeks now that Aadil Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammed Bhat, a 22 year old youth has gone missing from his home in Kakapora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Aadil Ahmad Bhat was a 6th semester Arts student at Government Degree College Pulwama. He according to his family went missing on 16th of March and till now he has not contacted his family.
His family members said that his brother received a call from police on 16th March.
“The police were asking about Aadil and were seeking his phone for examination. Aadil too talked with police on phone, however on the same day during the afternoon he went missing,” they said.
“As he failed to report back at his home in the evening we called him on his phone repeatedly but it was switched off,” said his brother Javiad Ahmad, adding that they called all their relatives and his friends but could not locate him.
“We were thinking that he might have got frightened as the police had called him during the day. He was also arrested few months back and was beaten severely,” they said.
“After failing to trace him, we filed a missing report on 17th of March at Police station Kakapora,” Javaid said, adding that they have been contacting his friends but they too have no details about his whereabouts.
“A day after Aadil went missing, cordon and search operation was launched in Laroo village which continued for many hours and during cordon and search operation my another brother Mushtaq Ahmad was arrested,” Javiad said.
“Due to unknown reasons he has been arrested and was kept in police station Kakapora for few days and has been now shifted to DPL Pulwama,” he said.
Javid said that the family was shocked to see Aadil’s photograph while wielding a gun on social media networking sites.
The family members have requested both the forces and the militants to release their sons.
