Amid coronavirus scare, lockdown burglars loot shops in Sopore

Sopore, Apr 05: Taking undue advantage of ongoing lockdown and subsequent restriction, burglars during the intervening night struck in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and looted two shops decamping with goods and valuables worth lakhs.

Reports said that burglars looted the grocery shop of Bashir Ahmad Khan near main chowk Sopore and decamped with various kinds of groceries items worth lakhs and after stealing valuables they torched the shop as well.

“I run a grocery shop at main chowk near SRTC bus yard on early Sunday at 03 am, I received a call from fire tender who was on job to extinguish fire at my shop, When I reached there, I saw my shop was completely gutted,” Bashir Ahmad said.

In a similar incident a wholesale vegetables shop of Mushtaq Ahmad at Shalpora Sopore was also looted.

He said that burglars struck his shop and decamped with huge quantity of vegetables.

Meanwhile, police has taken cognizance of both the incidents and investigations have been taken up.
