Three militants killed in Kulgam encounter
Kulgam, Apr 04: Three militants are reported to be killed in an encounter in soutrh Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday morning, police sources said.
The encounter stated between government forces and militants in Hardmanguri area of Khur Batpora of South Kashmir’s Kulgam District.
Official sources said that on specific inputs about the presence of militants, a joint team of forces including 34 RR launched search operation in the area.
On intensifying search operation towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired which was retaliated triggering an encounter, they said
During initial exchange of fire two unidentified militants were killed and firing has stopped however operation is still on, they said.
They said that a third dead body of another militant has also been recovered.
Pertinently two days before two civilians were killed by unknown gunmen in the area while police as per preliminary investigation said that they were killed by militants.
Notably, this is first encounter in Kulgam police district after a gap of around 11 months. (with inputs from GNS, KNO)
