Drug peddler held in Ganderbal
Ganderbal: Police on Friday arrested a dreaded drug peddler from Safapora area of Ganderbal district.
An official said that a Police party led by SHO Safapora, Sajad Khanday apprehended one dreaded drug peddler identified as Maqsood Ahmad Ganaie alias Shoda son of Mohammad Maqbool Ganaie resident of Wakura Ganderbal while carrying a contraband of huge quantity of NDPS drugs at Dollar Mode Safapora.
He said that the arrest of the peddler was made possible only after persistent efforts. A case FIR No. 12/2020 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act, has been registered against the culprit at Police Station Safapora & further investigation has been set into motion.
“The peddler was active in the district for a pretty long time and was highly motivated and infamous drug smuggler,” the official said adding that his arrest has exercised a big impact on drug mafia.
He further said that the process of rounding up drug mafia in the district is still on and there are certain more arrests expected in the coming days.
