Gurez avalanche: Body of missing man recovered after 47 days
Srinagar, Apr 02: The body of a man who went missing on February 15 when an avalanche hit Chak Nallah area of Gurez in north Kashmir was recovered on Thursday, sources said.
They said that the body of Javid Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Aziz Lone of Dangithal village in Tulail was recovered from Kishen Ganga river near Markoot village today morning.
An official said that police and medical team has reached the spot after locals informed them about the presence of a dead body.
Pertinently, Javid had gone missing after an avalanche hit Chak Nallah area of Gurez on February 15, burying him alive.
Later, the administration launched a massive search and rescue operation to trace the missing person but even after persistent efforts he was not traced.
The administration had also roped in a special SDRF team to trace the missing man’s body but the rescue operation was called off on Feb 26. (with inputs from KNO)
