Srinagar: The Covid-19 cases have soared in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir with new six cases reported from Kashmir division on Tuesday, taking the total toll to 55 in Kashmir
“6 new positive cases confirmed in Kashmir Division. All contacts of previous positive cases. Meanwhile contact tracing continues in both Jammu and Kashmir Divisions. Please cooperate.” Tweeted J&K government spokesman Rohit Kansal.
Pertinently, with two deaths, both from Srinagar and two recoveries one each from Kashmir and Jammu, the total no of positive cases so far is 55 with active 51 cases. Meanwhile, amid a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir, government has started “aggressive contact tracing” of the detected cases of the disease.
“Aggressive contact tracing of positive cases key to control spread of #Coronavirus. Yesterday several areas surrounding location of positive cases or untraced contact cases had to be sealed in Jammu, Srinagar, Pulwama, Shopian, Rajouri,” government spokesperson, Rohit Kansal tweeted on Tuesday morning.
“This is purely in the interest of controlling spread of #coronavirus, and helping identification of contacts on real time basis. Inconvenience so caused is temporary in nature but benefits will be immense. Request all to cooperate and take it in right spirit,” Kansal later tweeted
He said that areas surrounding the residences of the persons detected positive for COVID-19 on Monday across J&K had been sealed. Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Shahid Choudhary, who retweeted Kansal’s tweet, said that it was “important and indispensable” to seal the areas. He said that the respective areas will be restricted “till all precautions and measures are in place”.
Nodal officer at SKIMS Dr G H yatoo said that reports of four patients were received positive today while as more 16 patients with mild symptoms of coronavirus were admitted at Institute today, whose samples were taken and have been sent for testing.
Deputy Medical superintendent JLNM hospital Dr Tabassum said that among the reports received today two were positive, taking toll of total positive cases at JLNM to 06.
“Today no patient with symptoms of coronavirus were received however reports of many samples are yet to come,” she added.
Medical superintendent district hospital Pulwama Dr Jameel Ahmad Mir said that no new patient with symptoms of coronavirus was admitted at district hospital Pulwama however samples of four more patients were taken and has been sent for testing.
Nodal officer coronavirus District Anantnag Dr Farhat said that in Anantnag district there are 173 persons under hospital quarantine while as 3687 persons are under hospital quarantine in district.
As per the government figures the total number of positive cases across the Jammu and Kashmir has mounted to 55. As per the daily information bulletin 15001 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 9895 persons have kept under home quarantine.
According to the bulletin on novel coronavirus, 350 persons have kept under hospital quarantine while as 1371 persons have completed surveillance period. 3334 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far 861 number of samples have been collected for test of covid-19. Out of 861,804 samples have been tested negative while as 55 have been tested positive among them two has recovered and two positive patient died due to COVID-19 besides that reports of 2 samples are yet to come.
