Govt issues orders under J&K Reorganization Act, 2019

JAMMU: The government on Monday issued two orders under section 98 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, read with clause 17 of the Jammu and Kashmir Removal of Difficulties Order, 2019.
According to the first order, “Lieutenant Governor hereby directs that the Director, Industries and Commerce, Kashmir and Jammu appointed as “Registrar of Firms” under the Jammu and Kashmir Partnership Act, Svt. 1996 (repealed) shall be deemed to have been appointed under the Indian Partnership Act, 1932.”
According to the second order, “Lieutenant Governor hereby directs that the Director, Industries and Commerce, Kashmir and Jammu appointed as “Registrar of Societies” under the Jammu and Kashmir Societies Registration Act, 1998 (repealed) shall be deemed to have been appointed under the Societies Registration Act 1860.”
The government also notified helpline numbers for migrant labourers of Jammu and Kashmir who are stranded in various parts of the country due to lockdown announced in view of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Migrant labourers have been asked to seek assistance and help by contacting the following helpline numbers:
Zameer Ahmad, Assistant Labour Commissioner, 9797172356 (for Kashmir Division) and Sanjay Kumar, Labour Officer, 9419424281 (for Jammu Division).
The nominated officers have been asked to liaise with the concerned authority of the State/UT for providing assistance/help to these stranded migrant labourers.
The government also sanctioned Rs 17.65 crore for construction workers registered with the J&K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board who have been left without any work due to lockdown announced in view of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Accordingly, the government sanctioned Rs 1000 each in favour of active registered construction workers. The amount shall reach the beneficiary through DBT mode for purchase of essential commodities out of the cess fund available with the Board.
