Kashmir’s first Coronavirus case recovering, 3 more cases pop up in Jammu

Srinagar: The woman from Khanyar area of Srinagar, who was reported as the first Coronavirus infection case in Kashmir with a travel history of Saudi Arabia has tested negative for the virus.

Dr G H Yatoo Nodal officer for Coronavirus at SKIMS said that the samples of 67- year -old woman who was tested positive on 18th of this month were again taken and sent to viral Diagnostic and Research Lab, where sample results turned to be negative.

He said she is still at the Institute and will be kept in quarantine for a period of 14 days after that it will be decided whether to discharge her.

She is fine and the anti- viral drugs recommend by World Health Organization has helped her to recover and is undergoing treatment at isolation ward, he added.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 cases have shown a spike in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir over the past few days. On Monday morning, three new cases were reported from Jammu division, taking the total toll to 41 in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

 Jammu and Kashmir government spokesperson, Rohit Kansal said three new positive cases were reported from Jammu division today.

In a tweet he said, “No new cases in Kashmir Division, in Jammu Division 3 new positive cases. Total for J&K now 41.”.

Over the past few days, Jammu and Kashmir has seen a sudden spike in COVID-19 cases and two deaths have also been reported from Kashmir division alone.
