Medicos have stood dedicated, determined to save people
No doubt, this impasse shall pass off but will definitely leave deep scars on the canvas of our reminiscences

When all the people across the globe are either forced or requested to stay indoors, government and private offices are closed, workforce is directed not to attend their duties, social distancing is made advisable, social get-togethers are banned, sports events are cancelled or postponed, public transport is halted, religious gatherings and congregational prayers are called off, shrines and temples are locked, quarantine and isolation like terms are frequently used and restrictions have made a comeback not only in Kashmir, but across the globe.
Amid all these restrictions, chaos, desperation and risk, a group of people called doctors and their associated staff like the paramedics, come to the rescue of ailing and infected, bothering least about their families and own lives. The world would have been perished if there had been no angels in the form of these brave hearts who jeopardize their own lives for the sake of humanity. Had God not bestowed the world with such heroes, it would have been worse than hell. So, we owe a lot these great souls, we must be highly indebted to them.
COVID19 is marching ahead like a Tsunami, razing down everything to ashes that comes into way. The term COVID19 sends shivers down the spine of every person irrespective of gender and age. Almost the whole world is facing the cruel gallows of the virus. The suspected are seen and looked upon as live bombs.
The Acronym, COVID19 has become so scary that people fear it more than the demon of death. But, amid all this scare and panic, the angels called doctors, carry out a service of unprecedented and noble nature. They treat, perform different diagnostic tests, and administer different medicine to these patients.
Interestingly, in such situation people fear to attend the last rites and funeral processions of the dead who succumb to the infection. Besides, putting their lives to risk, they hardly get time to sleep and eat well. They are on their toes 24×7. They are seen taking naps in the corridors of their hospitals. Their families are apprehensive about their well-being. The last eight to ten days have been very challenging for them. They hardly visit their families.
One of my close relatives who happens to be a senior pharmacist at a Subdistrict hospital, hasn’t returned home since the 12th of this month. There are thousands of such doctors and paramedical staff who are away from their families for last many days. And this selfless service deserves to be appreciated and acknowledged.
The global pandemic of COVID19 has already killed many medicos while as a good number of them is infected. These people are also human beings. They are afraid of diseases and infections as we are, they are susceptible to ailments as we are, they love their families as we, and they do fear death as we fear. But, they, like brave soldiers, come to the forefront, and promise to receive the first bullet on their chests, to safeguard our lives. They don’t bother about their families and lives. Here, we should not attribute their great service to their salaries and money.
It is a matter of dedication, honesty, bravery and courage. History is testimony to the fact that only brave and patriotic soldiers win wars for their nation but not those who are paid well. We must acknowledge their sacrifices and determination. This noble job deserves plenty of respect and admiration. I salute the doctors across in general and our own doctors in particular, for working with grit and determination.
Rest of the world, particularly developed nations has sophisticated healthcare facilities but our doctors have limited healthcare sources. Making use of the exiguous and inadequate sourced, our doctors are giving their best.
These are the testing times for our doctors. No doubt, this impasse shall pass off but will definitely leave deep scars on the canvas of our reminiscences. And these doctors will be remembered, praised and acknowledged for their gallantry. We should be proud of having such brave hearts in our hospitals. And this is probably the reason that the tagline “Next to God ” is attributed to them. It suits them, as they save and safeguard the life given by Almighty Allah. We must respect and admire our doctors for their selfless and angelic service extended during these crucial times.
But, we all have a greater responsibility on our shoulders. We should extend our full cooperation and support to these medicos to fight the deadly COVID19. We all are well aware about the limited sources, equipments and infrastructure in our hospitals.
God forbid, a mass outbreak may prove disastrous to our deficient healthcare system. Our doctors can’t fight the possible high magnitude outbreak with the limited and meager sources. We can help them to combat this calamity. We should just behave like responsible and mature citizens.
Let us promise to stay indoors, maintain social distancing, and take all the necessary precautions like frequent hand washing, using hand sanitizers, and avoiding handshakes. We must not take to markets and other places unnecessarily.
We should not feel any kind of humiliation to close the main entries of our houses. Let us take a pledge not to visit our neighbors, relatives and friends. Let us be confined to our houses for at least two weeks. It will not weaken our relationships but will help us to prevent them from the possible harm. If we love and care for our near and dear ones, then, we must adhere to the principle of distancing ourselves. It will certainly help our doctors to curb this deadly infection. And this will be the best tribute to our doctors.
Let our budding medical aspirants inculcate the virtues of bravery , courage and patriotism in them. Time has proven that this noble profession in not an easy walk. You can’t imagine of only a chair to sit in, a pen in hand and the stethoscope round the neck, but sometimes, this job tests your perseverance and courage. May Allah help us to beat the deadly pandemic, and give us vision to see the events which may unfold to our carelessness, ignorance and obstinacy? May Allah SWT bless our doctors with courage and good health to fight this war for us all? May this tough time pass off very soon….Ameen.
