People with COVID-19 symptoms quarantined

Suspects include 4 non-local labourers, three women

Srinagar: More patients with COVED-19 symptoms were identified in Kashmir Valley and all have been quarantined. These include 4 Nepali labourers and two women with travel history to Saudi Arabia, sources said.
Official sources said that four Nepali labourers who were on way to Srinagar from Jammu by road were screened at Zig Lower Munda. They showed Coronavirus like symptoms and were immediately shifted to isolation ward at Qazigund Hospital.
“We are taking precautions and are very alert when it comes to screening of non-local labourers,” said an official.
The official added that there is no order or mechanism to stop the influx of these non-local labourers in Kashmir. “So far there is no official order in this regard and except screening we can’t do anything,” he added.
Official sources further added that a woman (name withheld) sixty years of age Larnoo Kokarnag area of Anantnag district was referred to PHC Larnoo. The woman was having high fever and flu and doctors shifted her to Srinagar hospital. Sources added that the woman has returned from Saudi Arabia few days back after performing Umrah there.
Similarly, in Armulla village of Pulwama, a woman with high fever and flu has been shifted to hospital.
Pertinently, one Coronavirus case has been reported from Kashmir so far. Administration has already imposed restrictions on the movement of public in various districts including Srinagar of Kashmir Valley.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan said that the woman, who was tested positive for Coronavirus on Wednesday evening, is undergoing treatment and she is stable. First suspected case of Coronavirus in Budgam quarantined
Meanwhile, a patient with symptoms related to Coronavirus has been admitted in isolation ward at chest disease hospital (CD) Srinagar where the patient was shifted from sub- district hospital Chadoora, Budgam.
A 67-year-old woman (name withheld) who had a travel history of Saudi Arabia where she had gone to perform Umrah developed some symptoms related to Covid-19 and was immediately referred to Chest disease hospital Srinagar. “She is from Chadoora area,” said Block Medical Officer Chadoora.
The BMO said that a patient with very little symptoms of Coronavirus who has a travel history of Saudi Arabia and have returned on 16 march has been kept in an isolation ward at CD hospital Srinagar after we refer her there.
“One lady from Gund Chadoora developed fever and cough symptoms after arriving from Saudi Arabia on March 16. She approached Sub district hospital Chadoora today morning, “we communicated higher authorities and refer her to chest disease hospital Srinagar so that she would be quarantine properly.”
The lady was screened at the time of arrival at Srinagar airport and the result was negative.
“Nothing is clear of as of now. As a precautionary measure, we have kept her in an isolation ward for precautionary measures,” she said. “There is no need to be panic however general public must avoid visiting crowded places unnecessarily.”
Pertinent to mention, a 67-year-old woman who had also returned on 16 march tested positive for the novel coronavirus (covid-19) on Wednesday evening, making it the first confirmed case in Kashmir Valley, Overall there are now four confirmed cases of coronavirus in J&K with three already reported in Jammu.
