Many students cross Wagah border, kept in quarantine

Srinagar: Dozens of students who were stranded at Wagah border since Wednesday were allowed to cross over to this side while as another batch that reached the border were not allowed to proceed.
The students said that they were allowed by Indian authorities on Wednesday night and have been kept in quarantine which according to officials is necessary for all travelers. These are the students who were studying in various colleges and universities of Pakistan and Pakistan administered Kashmir.
However, students who reached the Wagah border as part of the fresh batch, were not allowed to cross as according to students Indian authorities present at the border told them that there are directions to close the border.
“We spent entire day at Wagah border requesting authorities to allow us as colleges and hostels have been closed in Pakistan but they didn’t allow us towards Indian side,” they said.
Students alleged that they and their parents contacted all top officials of Jammu and Kashmir today but there was no positive response from their side.
“Our hostels have been closed and no body from either sides is helping us,” said the students, adding that “where will we go now.” Students as well as their parents are worried and are demanding immediate attention of concerned authorities. (KNO)
