Pulwama: Residents of Satpukhran village in Khrew belt of Pampore area in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district are up in arms against the authorities. The villagers allege lack of basic facilities in the village.
Locals said that they have been neglected by the district administration and basic facilities like roads, vital bridges and electricity have not been upgraded and repaired since decades.
The locals said that Satpukhran consists of over 400 households but no official visits this area.
“We wish to put it on record that no official from the district administration has ever visited this area and listen to our woes and provide some solution,” Aijaz Ahmad, a local said. ‘
“Two vital bridges were damaged in the area last year due to flash floods but authorities are yet to start restoration work on both of them,” he said.
“The single road connectivity from Khrew to Satpukhran with length of around 9 kms is also in dilapidated condition with potholes all over,” said another local, Younis Ahmad
Commuters and pedestrians suffer a lot due to the bad condition of this road, he added.
The local residents also castigated Power Development Department (PDD) for not upgrading the electricity transmission lines in the village.
High tension and Low tension transmission lines are of very poor quality which often develop snags and effect electricity supply to our village, the locals said.
They added that low lying transmission lines have proved fatal in recent years here and these transmission lines continue to pose serious threat to life and property of the locals but authorities are indifferent towards all our needs.
