Coronavirus cases surge in Ladakh, three more test positive

Leh: Three more people tested positive for Covid-19, the disease caused by novel coronavirus, in Ladakh on Tuesday. Officials said two of the three new cases in Ladakh are from Leh while one is from Kargil district.
“Three more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Ladakh. The total number of Covid-19 cases in Ladakh now stands at six,” Ladakh Commissioner Secretary Rigzin Sampheal told news agency ANI.
As on Tuesday, a total of 126 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in India. These cases have been reported from 15 states and Union Territories. Of the 126 cases, 13 have been cured and discharged, while three have died.
India reported another Covid-19 related death today. The patient was a 64-year-old man who had travelled to India from Dubai. He died at a hospital in Mumbai today. Two of his family members have also tested positive for Covid-19.
The first two Covid-19 cases in Ladakh were reported on March 7. Both the patients had a travel history to Iran.
In neighbouring Jammu and Kashmir, three positive cases have been reported so far.
Officials said that the trio had come in contact with the persons who had arrived from covid-19 affected Iran. “All of them are male and one of them is a 25-year-old and 2 others are in early 30s,” they said.
