Traffic restored on Jmu-Sgr highway after fresh landslides

Srinagar: The Srinagar-Jammu highway was once again temporarily closed for traffic on Monday due to a fresh landslide in Ramban district leaving more than 2,000 vehicles stranded.
Official sources said that fresh landslides along the highway were witnessed near Cafeteria Mode in Ramban district that resulted in the highway getting blocked.
Due to closure of the highway, over 2,000 vehicles were stranded at different places enroute the highway, they said.
Men and machinery were pressed to clear the highway and after remaining closed for some hours, the highway was thrown open for the commuters, they added.
Traffic police appealed to people to strictly follow the advisory being issued by the traffic department on a daily basis. They appealed travelers to contact Traffic Control Units (TCUs) at Srinagar, Jammu and Ramban before starting their journey on the highway. (KNT)
