Two militant associates arrested

Srinagar: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two militant associates and recovered arms and ammunition including one (Under Barrel Grenade Launcher) UBGL from their possession in Kralgund, Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A police spokesman said that a joint contingent of army’s 30 RR, 92 Bn CRPF and police laid a surprise naka following a tip off near Ananwan,Hajan crossing Kralgund village.
“During surprise checking of the vehicles and pedestrians, two suspicious persons on seeing the naka checking tried to escape from the spot but chased and apprehended by the naka parties,” the spokesman said.
The spokesman identified the arrested as Nazir Ahmed Wani son of Abdul Khaliq and Bashir Ahmed Wani son of Mohd Afzal, both residents of Sheikhpora Tarathpora, Vilgam. “While searching the bag of the duo, one AK 74, 3 Magazines, 7.62 mm ammunition (147) , 1 Chinese Pistol, 3 pistol magazines, 24 Chinese pistol rounds and one UBGL were recovered”.
In this connection, a case FIR NO 16/2020 U/S 7/25 Indian Arms Act, 13,18,20 UA(P) Act stands registered in Police Station Kralgund and investigation has been taken up, he said. (GNS)
