Road mishaps leave several injured

Handwara: At least eight persons including three women were injured in a road accident that took place in Bhagatpora area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Officials said that the accident occurred when an Alto Car bearing registration number JK09-1758 hit a horse-cart in Bhagatpora area of Handwara.
They said that eight persons including three women were injured in the mishap, adding that all the injured were evacuated to District hospital for treatment where the condition of all injured persons is stated to be stable.
Officials identified the injured as Alto driver Muzamil Ahmad Sheikh, horse-cart owner Sanuallah Bhat, Bilal Ahmad Sheikh, Dilawar Ahmad Sheikh, Azhar Ahmad, Meema Begum, Zoona Begum, Amina Begum and Nazir Ahmad Shah.
Meanwhile, a police official said that they have taken cognizance of the incident.
Elsewhere, fifteen persons including three women were injured on Friday evening after the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident at Baba Nagri area of Kangan in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said.
They said that a vehicle (Tata-Mobile) bearing registration number JK07-4377 was on its way to Wangath when the driver lost his control over the vehicle, adding that the vehicle turned turtle, resulting in injuries to fifteen persons.
Soon after the accident, the injured were shifted to District Hospital Ganderbal wherefrom two among them with critical injuries were referred to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) hospital in Srinagar for specialized treatment.
Meanwhile, hospital authorities identified the injured persons as Muhammad Aslam Jara, son of Sirajudin Jara of Ganiwan, Imtiaz Ahmad, son of Farooq Din of Mammar, Lateef Teadwa, son of Muhammad Yaqoob Teadwa of Mammar, Liyaqat Theakry, son of Muhammad Yaseen of Ganiwan, Inayat Ahmad, son of Muhammad Zubair of Ganiwan, Tajjara, son of Muhammad Rubani of Ganiwan, Riyaz Ahmad, son of Shabaz of Ganiwan, Farooq Ahmad, son of Fareed Khan of Kanmulla, Zubair Ahmad, son of Muhammad Yaqoob of Akhal, Ashraf Bajran, son of Qayoom Ahmad of Harwan Srinagar, Farooq Theakry, son of Muhammad Hussain of Ganiwan, Gulam Qaddir Khan, son of Fazal Wali Khan of Watlar Ganderbal.
He identified the three women as Shahnaza Begum, wife of Muhammad Sadiq, Nageena Begum, wife of Mushtaq Ahmad Gigi, Gulshan Hayder, daughter of Hayder Gigi, all residents of Hayan palpora.
A police officer also confirmed the incident and said cognizance of the incident has been taken and further investigations taken up. (KNO)
