LeT militant killed in Baramulla shootout: Police

Sopore: A militant was killed on Friday in a brief encounter with security forces in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, police said.
The encounter broke out between security forces and militants in Shahtullo village of Baramulla after security forces launched a cordon and search operation there, a police official said.
He said that the shootout between militants and security forces took place after a joint team of forces including Army’s 32RR, SOG and CRPF cordoned off the area following specific information about presence of militants there.
“During the naka forces intercepted the hidden militant and exchange of firing took place resulting in a short duration gunfight. In this brief gunfight one local militant was killed,” he added.
Meanwhile, SSP, Sopore, Javid Iqbal confirmed and said that one local militant has been killed.
He identified him as Mudasir Ahmad Bhat (25) S/o Sonaullah Bhat of Shutloo Rafiabad.
“He was affiliated with LeT outfit and had recently joined the outfit,” he added.
He said that One AK-56 rifle, 3 Magazines and two hand grenades were recovered at site of shootout.
Meanwhile, hundreds of people later attended the funeral possession of the slain militant.
Reports said that hundreds of people from Rafiabad belt assembled at the slain militant’s home and took part in his funeral procession.
