No substitute to our party in JK: NC
Says genuine representatives of people pushed to wall, crowded out
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Youth National Conference (JKYNC) Provincial President Ahsan Pardesi has stated that National Conference (NC) is the grass roots level representative party in Jammu and Kashmir and has been representing its social, cultural and historical individuality.
While speaking in workers convention of Sonwar constituency convened by Ahsan Pardesi and presided over by Pir Afaq Ahmad District president Srinagar, Pardesi said that there can be no substitute to National Conference (NC) as it is a deeply rooted party, shorn of all regional, religious prejudices.
The meeting was presided over by district president Srinagar Pir Afaq Ahmad, who vociferously concurred with the pain of scores of workers, functionaries following the prolonged confinement of party president, vice president, General Secretary and provincial president.
The duo sought the immediate release of all incarcerated leaders, political activists. The meet saw a large participation of local party functionaries and party office bearers who vowed to follow the ideals of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah.
Addressing the meet, Pardesi said that it is alarming to see that a veteran, tallest political personality of the state like Dr Farooq Abdullah not being allowed to represent his people in the Lok Sabha.
“It is shocking to see how a representative voice is not allowed to represent his people in the highest house of the country.
“It is a dishonour to the people’s mandate. It is inapprehensible to see a person of his stature, a three time chief minister, a two time union cabinet minister not being allowed to serve his people, who had voted for him to send him to Lok Sahbha,” he adding, “Continuous incarceration of J&K’s legitimate, representative voices is politically motivated shorn of any logic.”
Speaking on the occasion, YNC provincial president expressed dismay over the poor state of affairs in J&K, “There is no accountability on ground. Post 5th August every single sector be it economy, administration, and tourism is in shambles. The people especially the poor sections of the society are at the receiving end of all this. The government installations be it hospitals and schools and other pivotal departments, are out of gear.
The administrative inertia has beset every sphere of administration and development activity. The losses to the farmers following the incessant snowfall during previous months too weren’t recompensed properly. The roads, arterials and other alleys in urban and rural Kashmir are in shambles. The businessmen, the manufacturers are heaving with debts and innumerable losses since 2014 floods, the situation has only aggravated since with no substantial succour coming from any government quarter.”
He said the development in the Sonwar constituency was thrown to the wind since 2014, “the attention the constituency merits being a tourism hub was denied to it since 2014. The area sans all amenities including well surfaced roads, drains, parks. The electricity and portable water supply in the entire constituency is also not adequate.”
Keeping in view the diverse topography of Sonwar constituency, he said the government should have doled out more money to cater to the needs of people living across the length and breadth of it, however nothing substantial was done towards giving a flip to the development activities in the constituency.
Decrying the callous process of demonization, and vilification of tallest representative voices of J&k Pir Afaq Ahmed said, “they were the ones who stood the turbulent times braving odds in a place which has been fraught with conflict and terrible consequence of it, the continued incarceration of tall representative voices, former chief ministers, sitting Member of Parliament is not a good omen.
“The measures of central government have delegitimized everything the mainstream politics in Kashmir stood for. The idea of India which they had been propagating has unfortunately been unpacked. By detaining Dr. Farooq Abdullah, a sitting Member of Parliament the central government has sent clear signals of its contempt for Kashmiri representation,” he said.
He added that it is disrespectful to have a sitting member of parliament, whom BJP ideologue Vajpayee had refered to as third party to Kashmir in confinement. “One is at its wits end to ascertain what good will serve it to push genuine people’s representatives to wall, crowding them out. Furthermore any political process in J&K minus NC is not credible.”
