Srinagar: A would-be-groom is missing from the past one month while the family suspects that he might have been murdered by one who accompanied him. The family members staged a protest in Press Enclave Srinagar demanding arrest of the suspect.
Ghulam Nabi Khanday, a resident of Chelian Chonitnar Yousmarg area of Charar-e-Sharif (43) in a bid to marry contacted a person Shabir Ahmed Dar son of Ghulam Mohiuddin of Budhal Rajouri.
Dar promised Khanday that he will look for a bride in Rajouri and for that purpose he has to accompany him with cash to Rajouri.
Khanday agreed and arranged Rs 1.50 Lakh and both started a journey to Rajouri. Nephew of Khanday, Reyaz Ahmed said that both Khanday and Dar stayed at a hotel in Jammu. Khanday handed over cash to Dar and disappeared from the scene.
“It has been a month and we don’t know anything about the would-be-groom Ghulam Nabi Khanday. We suspect that Shabir Dar after taking cash might have killed him with the help of his friends. Ironically, when police contacted the accused Dar on his cell phone, he feigned ignorance and said he doesn’t know who Ghulam Nabi Khanday is.”
The family has lodged a complaint at police station Charar-e-Sharif and are demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
“We appeal police to expedite the investigation and arrest the suspect. He is the only person who knows about the missing person,” they said. (KNT)
