Srinagar, Mar 7: Voluntary Medicare Sports Club organised one day Sports Event for Specially abled persons at Indoor Stadium on Saturday.

The specially abled children and adults from different districts participated in different games including Badminton, Chess, Carrom and Skipping. 

The event started with march past of teams. President Dr Mir Mohammad Maqbool who was chief guest on this occasion in his inaugural speech stressed need of friendly environment for specially abled persons to facilitate their integration in to the society.

 “We need to create awareness among the masses regarding needs of these people and also help them to participate in different day to day activities,” Dr Maqbool said.

He said that VMS is trying its best to provide these specially abled people with all facilities and also have started livelihood programme for them.

Specially abled players while participating in different games exhibited their potential and enthralled the people watching them.  Especially women participants were very enthusiastic about their participation in the games. One of the participants Mehvish while sharing her experience said that this event has encouraged her to explore her talent in sports.

Winners of the events were awardde with trophies and certificates at the end of daylong event. Large number of people witnessed these games and encouraged the participants by cheering them.
