Civil society Sopore holds elections

Sopore: Civil Society Sopore on Thursday elected its new Chairman and General secretary, a statement issued by the organization said.
It said that Haji Abdul Rashid Changal was elected as Chairman and Ashiq Hussein Zaki was elected as General Secretary of the Society.
Core Group of Civil Society on March 4th, in its customary ceremony elected its new chairman and general secretary, for the next two years, the statement added.
Civil Society is an active, vibrant and an outstanding Social organization of the historic town of Sopore. It works to raise awareness of its programmes for betterment and well-being of the society on one hand, and on the other hand, it also takes on the problems of the people in the best possible way to higher authorities, the statement said.
In addition, it performs its duties and keeps in touch with people in difficult times, the statement added.
Civil society elections in Sopore are held every two years, and in the elections only the Core Group of twenty people including many retired Chief Education Officers, Professors, Writers, Intellectuals and Esteemed Personalities of Sopore articulate their opinion.
The Executive body is based on 30 people, besides Society has more than 200 prominent personalities in the General Council.
