Pulwama: The inhabitants of Branward Bhatnoora village in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district rue the lack of basic facilities in the area.

The inhabitants alleged that they have been neglected by successive governments and area has remained far from the development scene in the region.

“There are no roads, no water supply, no power supply in the village as we have been left out on all fronts by the government. We are being treated as outsiders,” the locals said.

“Roads were constructed in every nook and corner of valley under PMGSY scheme but this area has been neglected and is yet to get road connectivity,” said Basharat Ahmad, a local resident.

He said that they are living in Stone Age as no government department meant for ensuring development in rural areas has bothered to address our concerns.

“More than a year back a project under Deen Dayal scheme was started in the area to provide power supply to the area but that too has been left without completing it due to which the area is reeling under darkness,” said another local.

He said that the water supply scheme was started in the area few years back but that too has been left mid way. This has resulted in more trouble for the locals as they have to consume contaminated water, the locals rued.

“We have made frequent visits to the offices of concerned officials but their promises made to us have proved hoax,” they added.

The locals requested the concerned authorities to look into the issues that the village is facing at an earliest so that they too can live better lives.
