Srinagar: Former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Usman Majid has left Congress to be part of the new political combination coming up in the Jammu and Kashmir.
However, Majid, a former militant turned politician, rejected the reports that he was joining Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) or new political party was supported by saffron party.
A press release issued by Usman Majid last night said first workers convention post abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019 was held on Sunday at his official residence in Bandipora.
Addressing convention Majid lashed out at Congress Party and alleged that because of this party the people of Kashmir have been suffering from last 70-years. This party is behind the sufferings of Kashmir people, he said.
He announced that a new political party will be floated in Jammu and Kashmir very soon.
He alleged that the regional parties including National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) misled people promising self rule and autonomy. People in Kashmir are suffering because of their misdeeds, he said and accused Congress of ‘ double speak’. He alleged that Congress leadership was never sincere to the people of the Jammu and Kashmir as they would speak one language in Delhi, other at Jammu and quite contrasting in Srinagar.
Majid said that, a new party will be formed in Jammu and Kashmir very soon for which the like-minded have already joined hands. The party which is being floated is not backed by BJP. Linking our new regional Force with BJP is totally baseless and Concoted. We are in touch with likeminded politicians, he said adding the need was felt to fill a void between people and government.
