Three people missing after avalanche in Gurez, two rescued

Srinagar: At least three persons are feared missing after an avalanche in Jammu and Kashmir’s Gurez area on Saturday, police said.
“An avalanche struck Gurez area today. Three persons are reportedly trapped under it,” a police official said.
A rescue operation has been launched to trace the missing persons, he said.
Police sources said that the three people who went missing are students.
“The three students on way to Tulail came under a snow avalanche near Chek Nalah. Two among them were rescued while one is still missing,” a police official said.
“Muhammad Ismail Lone, Arif Hussain Lone and Javaid Ahmed Lone of Danghithal were on way to Tulail after appearing in the examination of BA Final year when they came under a snow avalanche. They fell into the River Kishan Ganga. Two were rescued while one is still missing. A police official said that efforts are on to trace the missing student. (with inputs from PTI, KNT)
