Two militants killed in Bandipora gunfight

Srinagar: Two militants have been killed in an encounter that erupted in North Kashmir’s Bandipora village on Sunday late evening, reports said.
While one militant was killed on Sunday during the firefight between security forces in Lawdara village, about 55 km from Srinagar, another was killed this morning, police officials said.
The encounter broke out when security forces launched a search operation following specific information about the presence of some militants in Lawdrara village.
Meanwhile, the official Twitter handle of Chinar Corps-Indian Army tweeted that weapon and warlike stores have been recovered from the slain militants.
The tweet said that one more militant (total two) were killed in Lawdara operation and weapons were also recovered from the encounter site.
Meanwhile, police said that, a cordon and search operation was launched jointly by the police and security forces in Lawdara area after receiving credible inputs about the militants presence.
While search operation was going on, the hiding militants fired at the search party, to which the joint security forces retaliated, leading to an encounter.
In the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. The identity and affiliation of the killed militants is being ascertained, police
added.
Incriminating material including arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter, the police claimed.
