Two Army porters reported dead in Gulmarg snow avalanche
Srinagar: Two Army porters from north Kashmir’s Baramulla district were on Monday killed after they were hit by a fresh snow avalanche early in the day.
Officials said that two Army porters identified as Ishfaq Ahmad and Sajad Ahmad, both hailing from Banali Bioniyar Uri in Baramulla district were hit by a fresh snow avalanche in the wee hours of
this morning.
They said that the duo was posted at 11 Garhwal at world famous ski-resort—Gulmarg, where they were hit by the avalanche, adding that the bodies of both the Army porters were recovered from the
snow on Monday evening.
The Valley on Thursday received season’s first snowfall while some of the higher reaches witnessed the first snowfall on Wednesday that brought down the temperature in Kashmir. The local
Meteorological (MeT) department here has predicted more rains and snowfall in coming days starting from November 14. (KNO)
