Budgam: People in different villages from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district have pooled money to fetch drinking water from Suknag Nallah using a couple of tractors, reports said.
Locals said that different hamlets of Budgam including Hasanabad, Iqbal Abad, Waza Mohalla and Zang Mohalla in Beerwah area are facing acute shortage of drinking water.
“PHE Department disappointed us as the employees don’t listen to us and make only hollow claims. More than 400 residential houses are facing water scarcity while the callous attitude of the department has forced us to hire a couple of tractors to fetch drinking water from Sukhnag Nallha,” said Abdul Hamid from Hasanabad.
The locals said that earlier PHE Department stopped water tankers from entering into the villages citing lack of budget for fuel.
Chief Engineer PHE, Abdul Wahid said that it is the responsibility of the department to address the problem.
“I will definitely look into it,” he added. (KNT)
