Srinagar: As part of its strategic outreach to extend banking facilities and financial services further into the unbanked areas of Jammu and Kashmir, J&K Bank commissioned two Business Units (BUs) along with Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) at Pouni Chak and MairaMandrian in Jammu besides inaugurating another ATM at Business Unit Gajansoo in the district. The Bank also opened a new Business Unit and an ATM Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar.

The bank’s Zonal Head Jammu (Central I) Sudhir Gupta inaugurated the touch points in Jammu in presence of Cluster Head Satish Kumar amid a good gathering of valuable customers, senior citizens, local businessmen of the area and senior officers of the bank.

Speaking on the occasion, the Zonal Head said, “We feel pleased to dedicate our new business units and ATMs to the people in these unbanked areas. We trust that the commissioning of these new touchpoints will provide world class banking facilities and services thereby improving the socio-economic condition of the people of this area through effective financial intermediation”.

Urging the people of the area to avail the benefits under the varied deposit and credit schemes of the bank tailor-made to suit the needs of the people, the Zonal Head said, “We are committed to empower the people by fulfilling their financial needs, providing them opportunities to start their own business ventures and contributing to their economic upliftment by financing self-employment opportunities.”

In a warm and cordial interaction with the locals, senior citizens and eminent members of the society, the Zonal Head assured them of the personalized customer service that has been the culture at the bank. “I assure our full support to the unemployed youth and local entrepreneurs who want to start their ventures under various schemes of the bank”, he said.

The residents of the area expressed their gratitude towards the bank management for commissioning the touchpoints at unbanked areas and hailed its Chairman and Managing Director Rajesh Kumar Chhibber for his farsighted vision.

“We express our gratitude towards the management of the bank especially its Chairman and MD for opening the BU and the ATM in the area. There was not a single branch of any bank within 26 kilometers of the area due to which we faced tremendous inconvenience as we could not avail banking facilities here”, a resident of MairaMandrian said.

With the commissioning of these touchpoints, the total number of Business Units and ATMS of the bank has grown to 946 and 1343 respectively.
