Kulgam killings: Police detains 10 suspects for questioning

Kulgam: Police has detained 10 suspects in connection with the killing of five non-local labourers in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, an official said Friday.
The official informed that three days after the killing of five non-local labourers from West Bengal in Katarsoo village of Kulgam in south Kashmir, police detained at least 10 suspects from different areas of the district.
Notably, five migrant labourers from West Bengal identified as Kamaruddin Sheikh, Mursalain Sheikh, Rafiq-ul- Sheikh, Rafiq Sheikh and Nayeemuddin were shot dead by unknown gunmen in Kulgam district on Tuesday.
The sixth labourer Zahooruddin was critically injured and is undergoing treatment in a local hospital.
All the victims hailed from Murshidabad district of West Bengal. The official said that suspects are being questioned.
The attack happened at a time when a delegation of EU parliamentarians belonging to far-right wings to assess the emerging situation after the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status under Article 370 of the Constitution were on a visit to Kashmir. (KNT)
