Srinagar: The bullet ridden body that was found in Bijbehara town of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district two days ago has been identified as that of a Hizb militant hailing from North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Official sources said that a bullet ridden body was found on Wednesday morning after the killing of five migrant labourers in Kulgam. The slain was identified as Ajaz Ahmed Malik alias Salman Farsi, a resident of Dardsan Kralpora area of Kupwara.
Ajaz had joined Hizbul Mujhadeen in June 2018.
Sources said that thousands of mourners participated in his last rites. The locals not only observed a shutdown to mourn his death but also held a massive protest rally in the area and raised pro-Kashmir and pro-freedom slogans.
Sources added that during the protest rally, clashes erupted between youth and the forces personnel.
Several protesting youth suffered injuries after forces fired tear-smoke shells in response to the stones hurled by them towards the deployed forces personnel. (KNT)
