Navratra Festival Day 5: Div Com Jammu inaugurates handicrafts exhibition

Katra: The Navratra Festival today entered its 5th day with Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma inaugurating a handicrafts exhibition which is being organised by the department of Handicrafts at Government Higher Secondary School, Katra.
Interacting with the officers of handicrafts department, the Div Com asked them for supporting enhanced production of handicraft articles having huge potential in the area.
The Div Com, along with Deputy Commissioner, Indu Kanwal Chib and ADDC Ramesh Chander visited stalls displaying various crafts of Jammu region during the exhibition.
Sanjeev Verma said that the ongoing Navratra Festival expressed hope of a record tourist influx to the town this year saying that such an opportunity must be utilized to the fullest. He directed the district administration for setting up of 3 ‘Points of Sale’, or outlets, in the district and similar venues in other districts of Jammu division to provide tourists with ample souvenirs to choose from and take back home in other parts of the country.
The Divisional Commissioner informed that various clusters are going to be set up in association with Khadi & Village Industries Commission, KVIC besides institutes for training in bamboo crafts would also be set up in Jammu region soon.
