Srinagar: Employees of the Power Development Department Tuesday started a three day long strike against the unbundling of the Department. The three days strike will culminate on September 26.
Notably, Power Employees Coordination Committee members are up in arms against the Government. They are opposing the unbundling of the Department.
“The tenders for unbundling have been issued. Government is heading towards the privatization and unbundling without taking the stakeholders on board,” Muhammad Maqbool Najar, the Coordinator of the organization said, adding that the Government was yet to redress the pending issues of the employees.
He appealed to the administration to establish a commission and make efforts to stop such a move.
“Our protest is against the unilateral move of the Government to unbundle the department and create companies, without involving the employees who are the major stake holders.
The employees urged the Government to shelve the proposal of creating companies and implement the report of the Reorganization Committee constituted by the Government on Oct 25, 2018. (KNT)
