DGP visits North Kashmir, reviews security scenario

AUGUST: Director General of Police Dilbag Singh Saturday visited Kupwara and Handwara in north Kashmir and took a review of the security scenario there.
The DGP was accompanied by IGP Kashmir S.P Pani and DIG North Kashmir Range Baramulla M Suleman Choudhary.
Singh interacted with the army officers, CRPF officers and district jurisdictional police officers during his visit and commended the collective efforts of J&K Police and security forces for maintaining peace and order in the frontier district.
He said that officers and personnel were doing a commendable job in the fight against militancy.
Singh asked to strengthen the intelligence gathering “to curb the activities of the elements inimical to peace”.
DGP also thanked the Central government and the Governor’s administration for their “generous support to the J&K Police by enhancing the honorarium of SPOs and ration money/hardship allowances for the police personnel”. He said that the gesture will “boost the morale of the force to work with more commitment and dedication for the service of the nation”.
The DGP emphasized to conduct Police-Public meetings on regular basis. He said that people’s cooperation in the fight against drugs and other crimes was must and the police will act tough against the people indulging in the illicit trade of drugs.
He also directed jurisdictional officers to seek people’s cooperation in the fight against drug abuse and other social crimes.
At Kupwara the meeting was attended by SSP Kupwara Shriram Ambarkar, Commandant IRP 4th Bn. Abrar Choudhary, ASP Kupwara Mir Ifroz, Dy.SP Hqr. Mohammad Yaseer, Dy.SP PC Fayaz Ahmad and Dy.SP (DAR) Javeed Ahmad.
The DGP at Handwara met SSP Handwara Ashish Kumar Mishra, CO 21 RR Ashutosh Sharma, CO 92 Bn. CRPF Deepak Kumar, Dy.SP (Ops) Handwara Fariz Hussain, Dy.SP (Ops) Magam/Kralgund Sahil Sharma, SDPO Handwara Tariq Mehmood and Dy.SP (DAR) Farooq Ahmed.
