Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM) General Secretary Shehla Rashid on Friday said that education in the state, especially in Srinagar had been the “biggest victim of the ongoing conflict”.
In a statement on Friday, she said, “While lives and livelihoods have been destroyed, people have been incarcerated, almost literally drugged and systematically impoverished, children have borne the brunt of conflict by having their childhoods snatched from them”.
“Where children should be playing in the playgrounds and studying in libraries, they have been exposed to both extreme poverty and extreme violence instead, ” Shehla added.
She also thanked ‘New Career Convent School’ for extending an invitation to attend their annual day function.
“I can assure you that we are committed to working for improvement of educational facilities in the state. In connection with this challenge that faces us, I will make an important announcement at tomorrow’s function.”
