Anantnag: Residents of Pazalpora, Uranhall and its adjacent areas in Anantnag district are up in arms as the authorities had allegedly failed to repair the dilapidated roads for as long as a decade.
Locals said that authorities were playing “hide and seek with us as every time they assure us that the roads will be repaired”.
They however rued that the roads were “lying in dilapidated condition for the past one decade”.
“Authorities have failed to macadmise the main road passing through our village since last 15 years,” Imtiyaz Ahmad a local alleged.
He said the bad condition of the road had become a “nuisance” for them especially during rains.
“We visited the offices of concerned officials several times, but to no avail,” he lamented.
“During rainfall, we are left with no way to walk on the road and even the roadside is also occupied with heaps of mud,” said another local adding dilapidated road “poses a risk of accident as it gets waterlogged after every rainfall”.
“Even though we have protested time and again for the repairing of road however there were no initiatives taken by the concerned department”.
Locals requested the district administration to repair the roads forthwith.
Assistant Executive Engineer Road and Buildings Bijbehara Division, Abdul Qayoom said that the required funds had not been approved by the higher ups even as they had forwarded the project to higher authorities under NABARD last year.
“Once project is approved, work will be started on the road,” he said.
