JKPM urges Centre to clear rumors on Article 35-A

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM), Chief Spokesperson, Advocate Sheikh Sajad has expressed concern over rumours about scrapping of Art 35-A.
In a statement issued Monday, Sajad urged the central government to “come clean on the issue so that growing anxiety and panic among the people of the state is removed”.
He said that the entire population in Kashmir was “caught in a wave of panic and scare over the rumours of scraping of Art 35-A” adding the sudden deployment of 10000 additional troops had compounded the already grim situation.
Sajad said the orders issued by the police authorities regarding security and law and order in coming days had “added to the wave of anxiety among the people” and urged the central government to clear all doubts in this regard.
“The rumours about scrapping of Art 35-A and abrupt deployment of around hundred new battalions of security forces in Kashmir is creating lot of terror and uneasiness among the people of Kashmir,” he said.
Due to the rumours and orders by the police, “every section of the society including trader’s community and students are worried about the happenings of tomorrow”, he added.
The JKPM spokesperson said that “turmoil ravaged people of the Kashmir need sincere and whole hearted support from one and all at this movement of distress and need adding that onus lies on central leadership to come to their rescue”.
He said that people of Kashmir “stand totally devastated in terms of social and financial wellbeing due to prevailing political and social uncertainty”.
Sajad said that Kashmir problem cannot be solved by military might but through a humanitarian approach adding that center should try to win hearts and minds of the people of Kashmir instead of browbeating and coercion.
He expressed optimism that the central leadership would rise to the occasion to redress grievances of the people of the state according to their urges and aspirations.
