Secy GAD reviews development scenario of Kulgam district

KULGAM: Secretary, General Administrative Department, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, who is also in-charge Secretary of district Kulgam, Saturday chaired a meeting of officers to review the pace and progress of various developmental works and languishing projects under execution in the district.
DDC Kulgam, Dr Shamim Ahmad Wani informed the chair about sector-wise achievements and status of developmental projects in the district. He said that under PMGSY, 287.13 kms of road length has been completed in various parts of the district.
It was given out that major projects which are targeted for completion in current fiscal include Financial Complex Kulgam, two blocks of Government residential quarters at Lirow, MCH Kulgam, PHC Frisal, Devsar, Sub Centre Adapora, G&B hostel, EKLAVYA Model Residential School.
The chair was also informed that under Ayushman Bharat scheme, 38780 beneficiaries have been registered and 38780 cards have been issued. The meeting was further informed that there are 49263 job cardholders in the district and under PMAY-G and 269 houses have been completed so far.
The district is producing 271.59 quintals of trout and 39.80 quintals carp fish, the Secretary was informed.
The DDC also informed the chair that under UJWALA scheme, 55648 gas connections were distributed among beneficiaries in the district so far. Chief Education Officer informed that the department has distributed 33823 text-book sets among students up to 8th class.
CEO also apprised the Secretary about the dearth of Principals and head-teachers which is hampering the smooth monitoring of the schools.
With regard to public grievances redressal in the district, it was given out that a separate cell has been created in the district and also a web portal www.publicfaithkulgam.com has also been launched for online submission of grievances. Out of 114 received grievances, 95 have been disposed of till now.
Under Youth Services and Sports sector, the meeting was apprised that out of 116 targeted playfields, 84 have been completed in 70 panchayats. Further, it was given out that land has been identified for construction of new playfields in 75 panchayats in convergence mode.
On the occasion, Dr Lone directed the officers and engineers to speed up the pace of construction work and complete the projects in a stipulated time frame. He fixed the responsibility to the concerned officers for completing the projects within the set timeline without compromising the quality.
He also emphasized upon the officers to focus on agriculture and allied sectors, for setting up of income generating units under dairy, sheep rearing, fish farming, high-density plantation for the sustainable economy. While impressing upon the officers to mitigate the grievances of people on a priority basis, he urged them to adopt prompt response mechanism in redressing the public grievances.
He also took a detailed review of languishing projects which include Nandimarg Gulabgad road, PWD complex, City Retreat Complex Kutabal, Mishipora and Chinnigam Bridges, Gund Kilam Bridge, WSS Razloo, Kraloo Chak, Chandergee, Sunigam, Shalipora, Tarigam, Yaripora, Damhal, Vovrikhul and others in the district.
