Locals, officials carry DC Ramban On Palanquin To Attend Public Meeting
Ramban: Pictures in which locals and official are seen carrying Deputy Commissioner Ramban Showkat Aejaz Bhat on a palanquin have gone viral on social media networks.
In some of the pictures, some official is seen holding the umbrella while others carry the deputy commissioner on the ‘palki’ (Palanquin) to attend a public outreach camp at Chaka Kundi area.
The area where the public meet is a mountainous area and sources said while others can go the area on foot, there was no need for the deputy commissioner rank to call for ‘palki’ as if he was a Maharaja (king) rather than a public servant.
When contacted Deputy Commissioner Aejaz Bhat told GNS that he travelled almost 10 kilometers on foot and I couldn’t travel further, people arranged Planquin and took me in it. The DC said he travelled only few meters on the Planquin.
He said that he is the only DC who reached the remote village and listened to grievances of the people. (GNS)
