Srinagar: Awami National Conference (ANC) senior vice president Muzzafar Shah Wednesday hailed the first elected body of journalists being elected democratically by the members of the Kashmir Press Club.
Shah in a statement issued on Wednesday, stressed upon the importance of the job to be undertaken by this team to bring about the desired change for good “that has been evading our unfortunate state, in particular, the drug menace and deep rooted corrupt practices in the state”.
“This team has to work hard in bringing to the fore the problems that need immediate attention, be it political, social or economic,” Shah said.
“You are supposed to report the truth however, bitter it may be and as now you are an elected body with a mandate of the Kashmir Press Club, you all can make the difference that the common man on the streets has been hankering for since decades and become his voice,” he added.
Hoping that the KPC will live up to the expectations for which it has been founded, Shah hoped the team will work fearlessly on the ground as has been demonstrated by all the members of the media in their fearless reporting in the tragic times Kashmir and it’s people are facing since decades.
He also offered the elected members all the support in laying the road map for good governance “without bloodshed and chalking out a feasible solution to the Kashmir imbroglio”.
