Shopian village without electricity
Shopian: Amid summer heat, residents of Chiddipora village in Chitragam tehsil of south Kashmir’s Shopian district are without electricity for the last several days as authorities have failed to repair their damaged transformer.
The villagers said the 63 KV transformer allotted to them developed technical snag three times in the last weeks resulting in immense hardships to them.
They alleged that the PDD had failed to restore power and due to the frequent damage to the transformer.
Even after repairing the transformer twice on their own money, it did not work, the villagers said.
The transformer, they added, was lying “defunct” at the workshop for the last 10 days.
They urged concerned PDD officials to repair the transformer and give them a sigh of relief.
District Development Commissioner Shopian Dr Owais Ahmad Choudary said he will look into the matter.
