Hakeem Yaseen pays tribute to 1931 martyrs

Srinagar: Chairman PDF Hakeem Yaseen Friday paid tributes to the martyrs of July 13, 1931 killed by the Maharaja forces outside Central Jail.
In his message on the occasion, Yaseen said that the sacrifices of the martyrs will continue to inspire people of the state “to fight for their rights, dignity and justice”. “Time has proved that the people’s undying thirst for dignity and honour cannot be suppressed by might,” he said.
Yaseen has expressed dismay over “exploitation of the sacrifices of the 13th July martyrs by some opportunistic political parties of the state for their petty interests”.
He said the sacrifices of the martyrs proved to be a turning point “in mobilizing oppressed people of the state to stand against dictatorship and feudalism”.
Yaseen asked the people especially youth to follow the path shown by the martyrs to safeguard their identity and honour.
He said sacrifice of the martyrs will remain a golden chapter in the annals of history.
“People of the state shall have to follow the path shown by the martyrs to fight for their rights adding that the mission of the martyrs has not been achieved fully as yet,” he added.
