Fruit traders protest against highway restrictions

Sopore: Demanding immediate revocation of restrictions on Kashmir highway in the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, Fruit traders at Asia’s second largest Fruit Mandi at apple town Sopore protested on Wednesday.
Scores of members of fruit growers and dealers association and members of Buyers Union led by President Fayaz Ahmad Malik and Buyers’ Union President Mudasir Ahmad assembled at fruit mandi Sopore and shouted slogans against the fresh restrictions.
Malik while addressing the protesters said that as a mark of protest, the Mandi will remain shut on Friday.
He said that due to the restrictions on public transport, the early varieties of Apples and other fruits were also affected.
People particularly students and other business community were also affected severely, he added.
