Valley shuts over JRL call, restrictions in old city

Srinagar: Restrictions have been imposed in old city Srinagar as valley observes shutdown over JRL call to mark third death anniversary of slain HM commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani.

According to locals forces in large number have been deployed at sensitive places in the shehr e khaas.

Forces are checking vehicles as well, they said .

Joint Resistant Leadership comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik had called for shutdown to commemeraco Wani’s death.

Wani along with an associate was killed in an encounter with forces in Bemdura area of Kokernag in South Kashmir in 2016 on this day.

Large scale protests had followed his killing and valley came to standstill for months together.

Deaths were recorded in the protests reaching hundred.

Pellet guns were used by forces to quell the protests across valley leaving thousands maimed and hundreds lost their eyesight.
