Govt failed to exploit tourism potential of Tossamaidan, Doodpathri: Hakeem Yaseen

Tourism Development Authorities without adequate grants, manpower

Khansahib: Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF), Hakeem Yaseen has expressed dismay over the “slow pace of tourism development” in Doodpathri and Tossamaidan tourist places.
Yaseen said the tourism development authorities at Doodpathri and Tossamaidan had “miserably failed to exploit the full tourism potential due to non availability of adequate funds and technical manpower”.
Speaking at a public gathering at Sitharan in Khansahib constituency on Saturday, Yaseen said that Doodpathri-Tossamaidan tourism belt had been the victim of government apathy and neglect despite the area possessing vast and varied tourism potential which needs to be exploited optimally.
He alleged that Doodpathri Gondola project could not take off during last 16 years despite even as its DPR stands finalized in 2003.
He said the tall claims of tourism department about promotion and showcasing of Doodpathri and Tossamaidan as major tourism attractions had proved to be hollow and the local people were very disheartened with the government’s lackadaisical approach.
During governor rule, it was expected that neglected and discriminated areas would get their due but things have not changed on the ground level, he said.
Yaseen described the union budget as “Old wine in new bottle”.
“There was nothing for the development of tourism, horticulture, trade and industry in the budget,” he remarked.
He also demanded a special package for development and promotion of these sectors of vital economic important.
