Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has expressed serious concern over the suspension of train service between Qazigund to Banihal.
The party has emphasized the government to withdraw the order of suspension of vehicle traffic and train service forthwith to ensure that people as well as other tourists were not put hardships due to its decision.
JKPCC President G A Mir while welcoming the yearly Amarnath Yatra has said that people of the state had always been enthusiastic to extend every help to people coming from across the country to perform yearly Amarnath Yatra.
“The decision to suspend the train service and vehicular traffic on National Highway was a bizarre move on the part of both State and Centre Government, which should be revoked to ensure that people as well as other tourists coming to valley were not put to hardships, they too have the right to enjoy their trip to valley and other parts of the State,” Mir said.
Although the government was duty bound to ensure safety and security, besides facilitating smooth movement of Yatra, Mir said the suspension of the vehicular movement and train service “has not gone well for the fact common people in JK believes that the decision of the Govt was not people friendly and that concern has to be addressed in the larger interests of people”.
He urged upon the Government that apart from ensuring every facility to Yatris, it should also address the concerns of the people, besides ensuring that economy of the state does not suffer on account of restrictions on traffic on National Highway.
He asked the government to withdraw suspension of both vehicular movement and train service forthwith to ensure that common people or tourists do not face inconvenience.
