Anantnag: Body of a militant associated with ISJK has been found in mysterious circumstances in orchards of Sirhama village of Bijbehara belt in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, sources said.
They said that the body of Aadil Rehman Dass of Waghama village of Bijbehara tehsil was found on a hill in Sirhama.
Sources say that Adil was killed in a group clash with LeT militants as Adil had joined LeT last year and had recently switched sides to ISJK.
However, there are reports that Aadil was killed during an ambush laid by security forces in the area but so far no official confirmation was available about the ambush.
Reports also suggest that a newly recruited militant of ISJK was arrested by forces in an injured condition. He has been identified as Arif Ahmad from Fatehpora Larkipora area of Anantnag district.
An official however, said that the fight ensued due to a dispute between LeT and ISJK cadres as the former wanted Adil to return back the weapon which belonged to LeT outfit, adding that Aadil may not have accepted their demand and was killed.
Locals said that they heard few gunshots from nearby area on Wednesday evening without knowing what actually has happened in the area.
Meanwhile, locals from Sirhama said that they heard few gunshots on Wednesday evening at around 9. 30 pm in the evening however, they were unaware about the real situation.
A resident of Waghama village on condition of anonymity said that everyone from this village believes that he was killed by militants of Lashkar over the weapon issue.
He said that such kind of incidents will have bad consequences and it may lead to a war between militant group as was witnessed in mid 90’s when one group was openly killing militants from other groups.
Meanwhile, police in a statement said that a body of one active militant was recovered from the orchards in Bijbehara area of District Anantnag while another injured militant was arrested by a joint team of Police and security forces from the area.
Police has registered a case in this regard. Further investigation in the matter is going on, police said.
Notably, thousands of people women and children shouting pro independence and anti India slogans participated in the funeral of the slain militant.
Eyewitnesses said that people in dozens and hundreds singing songs of freedom and dirges of bravery marched towards the house of Aadil.
“Thousands of people participated in his multiple rounds of funeral prayers as he was laid to rest amid high pitch sloganeering,” a local said.
As per eyewitnesses, seven militants led by Zahid Ahmed Dass, a resident of Waghama offered a gun salute to the slain.
Belonging to a middle class family Aadil is survived by a brother and sister besides his parents.
